  1. Never hip and somehow derided in some circles as a poor-man’s Faces - I loved del Amitri with a passion. OK this reissue isn’t going to set die-hard fans on fire - but they produced a corker in “Waking Hours” and this cheap double CD re-boot is a reminder of their brilliance.
  2. Waking Hours In 1986 Del Amitri returned from their first, storied tour of the States, battle-hardened and world-wisened. The eclectic tastes driving US college radio had opened their eyes to.

Are they together again permanently? I thought it was just for the one off reunion tour?

  • Chrilu

So, now that they are together again- what about a new output ??

I don't know if there has been any talk of a new album, but I hope so.

They are one of those rare bands who made albums where every song is good. Their debuteponymously named album is a vibrant yet delicate collection of great songs.

How very sad that the throwaway 'Roll to me' is by far the most played song by this finest of bands. [3]

Not got anything against Roll To Me but it should not be the track that people know this class act by, certainly not a true reflection of the band. Everyone should own Change Everything, though I quite like it being an unknown classic album.

Yeah, how is it possible that their only real hit is their most listened to song?

DEl Amitri ..One of thee best Live bands ever...I got to see them live five times, the last in 2003, But i have seen Justin Currie a further four times and he just gets better and better. 'What is love for' and 'The Great War' are fantastic Albums. I have just booked tickets to see Justin again on January 31st 2011 at Wolverhampton.. Who's a happy Bunny then !!

Del Amitri are my all time fav band, J.C.'s ironic sardonic lyrics cut deep. After all boys & girls, 'Love disappears like spit in the rain'.

@Hawkdaddyfoolz Because 'Great Britain' includes England, Wales, Scotland and N.Ireland. The 'British Isles' includes England, Wales, Scotland and all of Ireland. Please please tell me you're not British, cos I'd be a bit worried if you were!

For those amongst you who are still pining over the demise of Del Amitri, you would do well to seek out the side-project 'A Terrible Beauty' by The Uncle Devil Show, which features Justin Currie - it's a great album, and available to listen via Spotify (search for 'A Terrible Beauty', as it's listed under the incorrect artist name).

My all time fav! There are no words to discribe the feeling of loss, missing and disbelieve: the world seems oblivious to their past existance in brilliance... Take note of the last lyric on Be my downfall: '...ONCE AGAIN tonight'. Witty and charming!

Twisted

Waking Hours by DEL AMITRI February 9, 2014 - Published on Amazon.com Hailing out of Scotland as a sort of Soulful yet Indie version of the Faces - like so many I never noticed del Amitri’s self-titled debut album on Chrysalis which came and went in May 1985.
